Riung is the gateway to 17 Island Marine Park - a cluster of small, mostly uninhabited, white sand islands situated in crystal clear water.
The small township is lovely, quiet and peaceful. I enjoyed getting out early in the morning to mingle among the local townspeople, like this little boy on his way to school.
Being rather remote, town electricity is supplied by generator which works each day from 6pm to 6am. Perfect timing ... coming back from a day of photography the electricity turns on in good time for the usual battery recharging, transferring images to notebooks etc .. what more could we want? Oh, air conditioning? Yes - that was available as well :-)
Riung - Flores, Indonesia.
Mmmmmmmm ... scrumptious fresh fish for lunch on our own little deserted island.
As we drove to Riung, over hills and narrow winding roads, we stopped the car whenever we saw anything of interest, and thus met a group of women toiling in the rice paddy's. They came to join us and encouraged Noel and Vincent to try the popular Betel Nut.
